Our pretty little Meeko!! Her mom sent us an update: "She's doing GREAT!! We currently just got over 30 inches of snow and this Southern Belle LOVES IT!!! Can't get her out of it. As you know she graduated and passed her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. We have three more classes of Advanced Agility and she starts Nose Work classes tomorrow!! ( We believe in continuing education!)" LOVE it when dog parents give their dogs something to do...makes for a very healthy dog! Thank you Heather for being so wonderful to Meeko!

With the help of FURR in Little Rock, we have started our own TNR program for feral/stray city cats. Thanks to Ms. Ima Jean and Ms. Vicky Lindsey who are doing all the trapping, temporary care and transporting to and from the vet, we can try to help with the overpopulation of cats in the city. Over time there should be a significant difference. These cats will be re-homed to barn/shop homes or released in existing cat colonies outside of the city limits that the Lindsey's care for daily. We can only take care of the numbers we have funds to cover, so if you'd like to help with this endless endeavor, please donate below (Please specifiy your donation is for city cats.) or go to our "News" page and use the Chipin to donate. Thank you!

HORSES NEED US TOO!

These horses were found about 5 miles south of town in a bean field...we think they were brought in a dumped.  Thanks to Sheriff Bruce Golden for answering the call, getting them to the shelter and then helping get them to the vet. They have been taken in by the equine division of Arkansas Information Resources, Inc. who are certified Animal Cruelty Investigators and will be working with our county sheriff's department to open a cruelty investigation case. The owners may never be found, but this will send a huge message to our county...THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED HERE!

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization who helps the homeless dogs of Woodruff County "Get A Life". We manage the Augusta Shelter and rescue dogs from the McCrory and Patterson dog pounds and off the country roads. We place them in foster homes and provide all vet expenses to get them ready for their forever homes. We operate on donations and adoption fees and with your help, we can provide these dogs a comfortable and hopefully temporary place to stay and continue our successful adoption program. To us, rescue isn't just about the dogs and cats. It is also about bringing joy and happiness into lives of adopters who have a void that only a furry friend can fill!

Adapted from "The Star Thrower"
by Loren Eiseley

A man was jogging down the beach after a major storm had just come through the area. He was dismayed by the huge number of starfish that the storm had washed up on the beach. He thought that there was nothing he could do because of the immense numbers. As he continued down the beach he saw an old man throw something into the water. As he got closer, he saw the old man walk a little farther down the beach, bend over, pick up a starfish and throw it back into the water. As the jogger approached, the old man stopped again, bent over, picked up another starfish and was about to throw it into the water.

The jogger stopped and asked "Why are you doing that? There are thousands of starfish on the beach. You can't possibly make a difference." The old man looked at the starfish, threw it back into the water, then replied, "I made a difference to that one."

his donate button can be used to pay adoption fees or make a donation. Many of our dogs go to other rescues fully vetted with no reimbursements. That is why donations are so important!                                                                  THANK YOU!
