Summer 2010...New Dog Pound for McCrory
The McCrory pound is getting a much needed improvement…actually, it’s being rebuilt. We saw the need to improve the conditions of the dog pound, listened to the concerns of dog lovers in the community and knew we were the ones to make this happen. Thanks to Mayor Pittman for the $1000 donation from the city, Burrow's Building Supply for a $500 discount on the carport covering and Lynn Simmons for putting it all together. We will post pictures soon!
Before....
This is the old McCrory pound. Words aren't needed to describe it!
.....and AFTER
A new concrete pad was poured, a drainage system was implemented with plans to add a septic tank in the future if needed, larger kennels with igloo dog houses were built along with an enclosed area in front of the kennels to make it easier and more efficient for the animal control employees to work with the dogs.
THANK YOU to those who sponsored the new kennels:
The city of McCrory donated $1000 toward the project, Burrow’s Building Supply, McCrory Chamber of Commerce, Mark Holland, McCrory Family Clinic, Bank of McCrory, Jimmy Sanders, GL Morris Farms, Subway, Mike and Lisa Chappel, Amy Kertesz in CT (one of our adopters), Sean and Leslie Williams, Babbie Lovett, Randy and Janice Marsh, Jerry and Bettye Morris, MD Thompson, Haley Chappel, John G. and Betsy Armstrong, Woodruff Co. Health Center, Merchants and Planters Bank, Patti Parrish, Lion’s Club, Joan Dyer and Joyce’s Liquor Store.

Don't Litter:
Spay and Neuter!
We are now offering certificates for $20 neuters and $30 spays for any Woodruff County CAT. We do not have the facilities to house cats so we are trying to help the cat population as best we can. This will barely make a dent but it's a start! Certificates can be used at Wadley and Watson Vet Clinic in Searcy, Bald Knob Vet Clinic and Wynne Friends of Animals. Just call or email Rhondine.
We are now in the process of obtaining our 501c3 non-profit status...this will open up so many doors for us and make our rescue even more successful!
Our first booth at the Tri-County fair. We adopted 3 puppies, raised over $250, and offered lots of information about our rescue and our plans.
Purina gives us coupons for food! So if you use Purina dog food, any variety, save the weight circles from the bags and take them by Farm Bureau in Augusta or the Monitor in McCrory. 800 pounds of dog food earns $70 worth of free food....and it doesn't take long for the shelter to go through 800 pounds! So please save those for us! Thanks!
